The story of Finlayson began in 1820, when after a short period of time it became the largest industrial enterprise in Scandinavia. The first electric lights in the Nordic countries were switched on in the Finlayson weaving mill in 1882. Throughout the 200-year history of the company, social justice has been at the core of its values. Finlayson’s growth is based on unique courage and open-mindedness.
Finlayson studio, founded in 1951, was in the first wave of Scandinavian fabric design to conquer the world with its original, minimalist, colourful and fresh approach. Today the Finlayson print archive is the largest Scandinavian design collection in the world. The oldest sample books date back to 1836, while the ink is barely dry on the newest. Over the years, the collections have featured many tasty, delicious, stylish and cozy prints, each in their own charming way a reflection of their era. Considering all this, it is easy to understand why Finlayson is still by far the most loved home design textile producer in Finland.
